82nd Rally Poland on Silesian tarmac for the first time in years

After more than two decades on Masurian gravel, Poland's oldest rally changes its face — the 82nd edition will run on the tarmac stages of Silesia, starting in the centre of Katowice.
The 82nd Rally Poland heralds one of the biggest changes in its century-long history. After more than twenty years tied to Mikołajki and the fast, sandy stages of Masuria, the event moves to Silesia and to tarmac.
The ceremonial start is planned for Friday evening in the centre of Katowice, with the first special stage running through the heart of the Silesian capital, right next to the famous Spodek. It is an entirely new character of rally, demanding a different technique from the crews than the gravel of old.
The rally, whose history dates back to 1921, remains one of the oldest in the world. This year's tarmac edition will be held on 24–26 July as a round of the Polish Rally Championship.
